Carolina Herrera- Day 4- 31daysofWomen

“Elegance is a whole combination of things. Not only what you are wearing but how you act. It’s attitude. It’s movement. It doesn’t have anything to do with beauty or wealth.” ~ Carolina Herrera, Venezuelan Fashion Designer.
Since a very young age I was acquainted with Carolina Herrera’s elegant designs. My mother was a true fan of her couture as well as my aunts. They will spend countless hours looking through fashion magazines carrying her designs.
Herrera started her fashion career in the early 70’s and by 1980 she launched her clothing line with a runway show at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Club that included supermodel Iman with great reviews . Since then her company has been based in New York and currently she presents her Ready-to-Wear Collection semiannually at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
Her brand has received recognition from several fashion publications including Women’s Wear Daily and Tatler. Some of her most notable clients are Renee Zellweger, Duchess Diana de Melo and the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis who asked her to design the wedding dress for her daughter Caroline.
To date her clothing line is carried in 280 stores and 104 countries.
She has been awarded the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award [25]from the Council of Fashion Designers of America,[26] and “Womenswear Designer of the Year” in 2004. In 2014, she earned the 2014 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion.[34] Herrera has been a worldwide representative of the elegance and style of the Venezuelan woman from her beautiful gowns to her bridal designs, for me she is a symbol of the exceptional personal style of a woman and a living portrait of a Lady.
