Audrey Dimola- Day 16- 31daysofWomen

“I come from a lineage of boundless women – my mother and my Nana showed me that it’s okay to blaze like a firecracker, with no apologies. I wholeheartedly believe every woman should light her spark off that ancient wisdom – that of the eternal goddess, the magic-maker, the wild woman. The voice in all of us that says: tell your story, dance in the ashes, and never stop exploring… Create a life for yourself that is INFINITE: less cage and more wing!” ~ Audrey Dimola, Queens’s writer/poet, performer, curator, host, and local arts crusader.

I met Audrey Dimola on October 2013 at the first Queens Literary Town Hall that she curated. She asked for me to showcase Canvas of Words and let the literary community of Queens know about my work. Since then we have become very close and supportive of one another.

Audrey is that type of person that symbolizes a sparkle wherever she goes, she’s always smiling and laughing but at the same time she is very committed to the arts and Queens, one of the many things we have in common. We have worked together in numerous events and we are constantly searching for open doors for both and others.

Audrey is the author of “Decisions We Make While We Dream” (2012) and the brand new “TRAVERSALS” (2014) who I was honored to revise and read before it was send to the printer; if you are an avid reader and lover of poetry, get your copy today! You will enjoy the read.

Audrey has performed at Bowery Poetry Club and Brooklyn Museum, curated shows for LaGuardia Performing Arts Center and Queens Museum, has been featured twice on NY1 TV for her work, and was recently the featured poet and voice of the global Gillette Venus‪#‎UseYourAnd‬ campaign, inspiring women to overcome limiting stereotypes.

I admire Audrey’s fearless spirit and good heart; she is not afraid to show vulnerability and to share her resources with anyone, at the same time she is grateful for every opportunity that’s been given to her and a constant dreamer. She and I come from the perspective that there is enough light for each of us to shine and make this world a better place by working together and nurturing our talents.
