When your lifestyle opens the door to creating a brand: The Restore Collection, Interview with Steven Thomas and Sergeo Celce

I am always inspired by dreamers and doers, those who have a vision and go after it.

Today, I chat with Steve and Sergeo,  friends not only shared a dream but also have worked together to make it a reality. For the past year they have developed The Restore Collection and in a few weeks, they will be ready to launch their brand and offer men an alternative for their skin care.

WA: Tell us about yourself, where were you born and what ignited the spark for you to start a new business venture?

TRC: We are two friends that connected on a lot of levels and one of them happened to be our lifestyle. As we continued to share we realized that we did not see enough young men who looked like us promoting skin care. We began to research and explore and as always we bounced ideas off of one another. That led to us just researching and formulating our own products which we eventually shared with family and friends. The feedback we received was beyond positive and we were encouraged to start a business. And here we are now getting ready to share with the world.

We also felt that we could bring new eyes and new perspective to something that we both as you can see are very passionate about.

WA: What is The Restore Collections’ mission statement?

TRC: Our goal is to provide natural and practical products that allow modern men to feel confident and prepared to take on any moment in their everyday lives.

WA: What makes The Restore Collections different from the rest of the men skin care lines out in the market?

TRC: We believe what sets us apart is our skin care line goes hand in hand with the lifestyle that we truly live. It’s made for the everyday modern man who goes to the gym, to the man who works long hours honing his craft or climbing the corporate ladder to the man hosting the evening soiree.

WA: What are some of the benefits your customers will gain by using your products?

TRC: Besides having the Bruce LeRoy – Glow (Lol a joke for anyone who’s ever seen The Last Dragon) Some of the benefits are we pride ourselves on using clean, simple ingredients that are good for everyone at any time. Also, daily skin care is essential for optimal skin health and our goal is to provide not only the products but the education that goes with each product. We assist in giving our clients a guideline to follow for optimal skin.

WA: When is it the official launch?

TRC: Aiming for the top of the new year, ideally mid-February.

WA: As an entrepreneur in the beginning stages, what motivates you?

TRC: We believe the only thing that can stop a dream from becoming a reality is yourself. We have the opportunity to take something that we truly believe in and share with our community.

WA: How do you generate new ideas?

TRC: A combination of surveys, focus groups, conversations, recommendations, our own creativity, social media.

WA: How far are you willing to go to succeed?

TRC: The last dollar in my pocket

WA: What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?

TRC: Our greatest fear is to not give all 110% to our dreams. We couldn’t imagine going through life wondering or wishing we had tried to make our dreams a reality.

How do you define success?

Success is giving your all and working towards your goals and aspirations. We also measure success on how much we can open doors for others and continue to create an opportunity for our community.

Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Our greatest inspiration has been our family & friends.

What book has inspired you the most? (OR What is your favorite book?)

The $100 Startup: Reinvent the Way You Make a Living, Do What You Love, and Create a New Future by Chris Guillebeau.

What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

The freedom to be as creative as we’d like.

What sacrifices have you had to make to become an entrepreneur?

Before The Restore Collections, we can both agree that it was much easier to spend money on miscellaneous things we wanted where now we try and throw every last dollar right back into our company. Also, you never see how much time an entrepreneur puts into their work. We’ve turned down countless opportunities to hang out with friends and family just to focus/complete some of our deadlines.

Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years?

We try not to put that much pressure on ourselves to think that far ahead but we definitely plan on being around for awhile and changing what skin care looks like for men of all backgrounds.
